The Public Works Department (PWD) has initiated the tendering process for construction of a skywalk and foot-over-bridge (FOB) at the ITO intersection, speeding up the Delhi government’s plan to de-congest the area.
Nine months
According to the department, the project will be completed in nine months — starting from the time of construction — at an estimated cost of around ₹44.23 crore.
“Tender process started for construction of Skywalk and Footover bridge at Mathura Road, Tilak Bridge, ITO,” PWD Minister Satyendar Jain tweeted on Sunday.
An official said that the FOB will connect Pragati Maidan metro station to Tilak Lane railway station and ITO.
The skywalk will connect Tilak Marg, Sikandra Road, Mathura Road and Bahadurshah Zafar Marg with the ITO metro station and the Delhi High Court. The official said that the project will be a boon for pedestrians crossing the busy ITO intersection.
