Making this Saturday evening special in the Capital will be sitar legend Pandit Ravi Shankar and his daughter Anoushka who will be performing at Nehru Park in Chanakyapuri as part of the “Music in the Park” series.

Speaking about his first performance this season along with his daughter, Pandit Ravi Shankar said he was looking forward to the event. “This is out first performance together in the Capital and it always feels good to be performing here,’’ he said.

Organised by SPIC MACAY and the New Delhi Municipal Council, the programme brings together the best performers in the field of arts.

Asked whether he was seeing a surge of interest among the young people in classical music and performing arts, Pandit Ravi Shankar said: “Worldwide we are seeing an increase in the number of young people who come for concerts. This clearly indicates that there is growing interest. Even at my concerts more youngsters are turning up. It is, of course, very heartening.’’

Also present at the press conference at the Ravishankar Centre on Thursday were SPIC MACAY chairperson Dr. Kiran Seth and its director Rashmi Malik.
