Unable to establish the identity of the person who raped a seven-year-old girl in Mangolpuri here this past week, the police have roped in a psychologist to interview the victim in a bid to reconstruct the sequence of events leading up to the incident.
Several police teams are pursuing various leads for clues and a large number of people, including the staff of a municipal school where the incident allegedly took place on February 28, have been questioned so far. However, the police are still not certain where exactly the incident took place and who was the perpetrator.
The police have also prepared a rough sketch of the suspect. “We have not released it yet as it has to be further refined on the basis of the description given by the victim,” said a police officer.
The victim’s father had earlier told the police that the rape took place when she had gone to the school to collect her midday meal.
After news of the incident broke, angry locals had gone on the rampage damaging vehicles and vandalising Sanjay Gandhi Hospital where she was admitted a day after the incident.
