Probe ordered into Trauma Centre deaths

Expressing grief at the loss of lives in the incident, Delhi Health Minister Ashok Walia said the Committee has been directed to submit its report within the next three days.

The Delhi Government has set up an enquiry committee under Special Secretary (Health) S. B. Shashank to look into the causes leading to the tragic death of four patients at the Sushruta Trauma Centre here on Tuesday. The four critical patients allegedly lost their lives due to malfunctioning of oxygen equipment in the hospital.

Apart from Mr. Shashank, the committee will also comprise Dr. A. K. Sethi from G.T.B. Hospital and Dr. Deepak Tempe, Head of Department (Anaesthesia), G.B. Pant Hospital.

The panel has been directed to also suggest measures to prevent recurrence of such incidents in future.

The Minister said he would also chair a meeting to review the situation in all other hospitals.
