Corporate Affairs Minister Sachin Pilot on Sunday said he would meet administrative and police officials in Moradabad on July 26 to seek a proper probe into the death of a girl student at a private medical college in the district earlier this month.
“I, along with the victim’s parents and community leaders, will go to Moradabad and meet the District Magistrate and the police chief to press for a fair and expeditious investigation into the girl’s death. When the post-mortem examination report suggests that she might have been killed, calling her death a suicide raises doubt. The State government should order a high-level probe into the entire matter,” Mr. Pilot said.
Last week, Mr. Pilot had written to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, demanding a fair probe into the mysterious death of the student. “The college management termed it as an accidental death, but the post-mortem report found that the girl was strangulated. A named FIR has been lodged in the case. “It is necessary that a fair and transparent probe is carried out in this case” Mr. Pilot had said.
Neeraj Bhadana, an MBBS first year student hailing from Haryana, was found dead on the college premises on July 6. The college management termed it as an accidental death, saying the girl fell from the fifth floor of a building and died. The post-mortem report, however, found that the girl was strangulated to death and there was no fracture on the body.
