The Aligarh Muslim University on Monday withdrew its earlier decision to cancel the results of the MBBS/BDS entrance tests. The decision came after the Justice ( retd.) Imtiyaz Murtaza Enquiry Committee declared that there was no foul play in the test which resulted in a particularly conspicuous number of candidates being selected from Kozhikode entrance test centre.
The enquiry committee in its report a copy of which is in the possession of The Hindu also passed some strong comment against the conduct of the present Controller of Examinations Prof. Javed Akhtar. The enquiry committee report questioned the manner in which question papers were allegedly typed out by a lower level staff and were allegedly opened in Aligarh.
“Though there is no written procedure for the preparations of the test papers but there should not have been any involvement of the lower staff in typing out the question papers. Ideally the paper should not have been opened in Aligarh so that complete accountability remains with the press,” said the report.
