After a lull, students of a B—School here have witnessed better campus placement this year with the average salary package going at around Rs. 13 lakh per annum.
In signs of private job market opening up, Faculty of Management Studies, Delhi said the students witnessed “abundance of offers” in the corporate sector this time after a lull last year.
“Definitely the economy has opened up. This year, the corporate sector visited the campus with renewed vigour. About 77 companies participated in the recruitment process,” Madhu Vij, Professor in Finance, FMS, said.
Unlike last year, when PSUs were the order of the day, this time around the students gave more importance to the job content and profile than the customary factors of compensation and brand name, she said.
Already 90 per cent of the total 152 students have got placements in the first session and more companies will visit the campus next week in the second part, Ms. Vij said.
Among these, nearly 36 per cent opted for a career in finance, followed by marketing (29 per cent), consulting (18 per cent) and IT and operations (10 per cent).
