A school principal on her way to receive the President’s Medal on Teacher’s Day was drugged and robbed by two men in the second AC compartment of a train after it departed from Mathura in Uttar Pradesh.

Principal Rekha Saxena lost a wallet containing Rs.50,000 and some documents. Her brother was robbed of his watch. The 56-year-old and her brother were found unconscious by some coolies at Delhi’s Nizamuddin railway station.

They have been admitted to Moolchand Hospital where their condition is stated to be stable. Union Human Resource Development Minister Smriti Irani visited themat the hospital.

Delhi police have registered a zero FIR based on their complaint and informed the police in Mathura about the incident. The suspects are yet to be identified.

A resident of Indore in Madhya Pradesh, Ms. Saxena is the principal of Kendriya Vidyalaya in Gwalior. She is to be awarded the President’s Medal for her performance in the field of academics. In a career spanning three decades, she has served many government schools.

The siblings had boarded the Samata Express on Wednesday. When the train reached Agra, two men posing as tea vendors entered the compartment and sat opposite them. They offered tea to Rekha and her brother, who refused.

The siblings went to sleep sometime later, only to wake up in the hospital. The police suspect the two accused sprayed them with some chemicals, thus, rendering them unconscious.
