Discom BSES Yamuna Power Ltd (BYPL) inaugurated the deployment of an advanced distribution management system (DMS) to automate the process of electricity management in east Delhi’s Mayur Vihar on Sunday.

Intelligent monitoring

It was inaugurated by Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia. The system will intelligently monitor power supply in real time at the 11-KV sub-stations and help restore faults nearly 50 per cent faster, a statement issued by BYPL said. The DMS is an integration of different sensors, equipment and applications. It controls the distribution network and helps increase the reliability and quality of power supply.

“The BYPL has deployed DMS at Mayur Vihar, benefiting around one lakh residents. Under this, all 60 11-KV sub-stations in the area will be controlled remotely,” BYPL CEO P.R Kumar said, adding that the pilot project cost around ₹1.8 crore.

The DMS is likely to be rolled out in other areas in phases. The system was developed in-house by the BSES.
