The mystery behind the murder of British tourist Andrew Raymond Rodick has deepened with the initial post-mortem indicating that a blood clot on his head was due to decomposition and not because of any inflicted injury, sources said.
The post-mortem of Rodick was conducted on Tuesday. His body was found on the busy Church Road at Bhogal in South-East Delhi on Sunday.
A statement issued on behalf of the Deputy Commissioner of Police (South East) said the cause of death would be clear only after they receive other forensic reports.
The post-mortem also established the presence of drugs in the body, said a police source.
The police are still groping in the dark to find his exact address back in the United Kingdom and have not been contacted by his family members either. His journey from the lodge in Paharganj, where he had checked in a few days ago, to his death remains a mystery that the police have not been able to unravel so far.
They had questioned the owner of the lodge as well as a local man who helped Rodick in getting there, but it provided little breakthrough.
Another fact that has come up during the probe is that the British National was cash-strapped, which was the reason he checked in a low-budget guest house. He was carrying very few clothes and little amount of money. As far as his stay at the hotel was concerned, he barely stayed there for half an hour after moving in.
Since the Central District houses a lot of hotels and sees a lot of tourist movement, it is under the vicinity of a large number of cameras.
Footage of CCTV fails to throw lightThe police are going through the footages they have gathered from there. However, till Tuesday night, sieving through the footages had not yielded any frame with Rodick in it.
Several persons have been questioned in Bhogal as well.
The response from the British High Commission on the police’s request to provide more details about Rodick is also awaited.
