An Assistant Sub-Inspector and a property dealer were arrested on Wednesday for allegedly raping a 32-year-old woman in outer Delhi’s Nangloi. The ASI has been dismissed from the force, the police said.

The accused have been identified as ASI Jaidev, stationed at Saket police post, and his friend Dilbag Dahiya, a property dealer in Nangloi.

According to the police, the victim told them that she was in touch with Dahiya as she wanted to buy property.

“Dahiya called her on Tuesday afternoon on the pretext of showing her a plot. Instead, he took her to a house where Jaidev was already waiting,” said a senior police officer.

The duo allegedly took turns to rape the 32-year-old, after which they threatened her with dire consequences.

“The woman said Jaidev threatened to framed her in a false case if she complained about the rape,” the officer said.

However, the woman went home and told her husband about the incident. The couple decided to inform the police at Nangloi police station. Based on her complaint, a case was registered and the duo arrested.

Medical examination

Confirming the arrest, Delhi Police chief spokesperson said the two accused were produced in court and have been sent to judicial custody. “Jaidev has been dismissed from the force with immediate effect as there is zero tolerance for moral turpitude in the Delhi Police. Based on her statement and medical examination, a case was registered against the duo and they were both arrested on Wednesday. The woman also recorded her statement before a Magistrate,” he said.
