Police constable killed in West Delhi accident

A 38-year-old constable was killed and his young colleague injured when a speeding Mercedes, allegedly driven by a hotelier, hit them in West Delhi while they were on patrolling duty this morning, police said.

The incident took place in Paschim Vihar B-1 Block and the deceased has been identified as Deepak. A 24-year-old constable was also injured in the incident.

The constables were on the night patrolling when they were hit by the speeding vehicle allegedly driven by Gurdeep Singh, the owner of a chain of restaurants in South Delhi and Gurgaon.

He was arrested later and a case of culpable homicide not amounting to murder and rash and negligent driving was registered against him.
