The Delhi Police’s Special Cell on Thursday chargesheeted former absconding Delhi MLA, Rambeer Shokeen, his nephew and alleged gangster Neeraj Bawana and eight others accusing them of running a crime syndicate in Delhi-NCR region.

Shokeen was the political face of the crime syndicate involved in various extortion and murder cases and played a key role in providing shelter and finances to the syndicate members, the charge sheet said.

“Shokeen has been found criminally involved in the commission of gruesome crimes on behalf of the syndicate in the capacity of background conspirator and disposal of robbed police weapons,” the charge sheet alleged. The Special Cell also alleged that Shokeen was using the muscle power of the syndicate in advancing his political ambitions so that political protection could be provided to the gangsters.
