Pension amount increased to Rs. 1,000

Aiming to disseminate information among employees provident fund pensioners about the decisions taken by the government to their advantage, the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) organised ‘EPF pensioners’ samman samaroh’ on Tuesday.

The programme was held across 37 centres.

A number of Cabinet Ministers participated in the events, officials said.

“Recently, the Government of India has taken major decisions on expanding the social security umbrella for the poor workforce in the country. One of them is enhancement of the amount of minimum pension to Rs. 1,000 a month under the employees’ pension scheme. It came into effect from September 1, 2014. Also a minimum pension of Rs. 1,000 per month for member, widow, and disabled pensioner is part of the change,” an official said.
