Claiming that the common man used to get 24-hour power supply during the Congress-rule, Delhi Congress leaders have threatened to launch protests if power and water supply in the affected areas do not normalise over the next 24 hours.
With several pockets in the city battling hour-long load shedding, senior Congress leaders, including the sitting and ex-MLAs are planning to meet Delhi Chief Secretary S.K. Srivastava on Monday to apprise him of the ground situation.
“Anger is brewing among people due to the severe shortage of power and water. People have been forced to protest outside Power Department offices. The Congress workers and the people of Delhi would be forced to come out on the streets if the situation does not improve in the next 24 hours,” Delhi Congress spokesperson Mukesh Sharma said.
Holding the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Aam Aadmi Party responsible for the prevailing “jungle raj” in the city, the Congress leaders alleged that both the parties are resorting to diversionary tactics by seeking public opinion on people’s problems and by holding mohalla sabhas .
“The BJP is trying to shift the focus of people by approaching people with feedback forms seeking suggestions of people on the problems they are facing to divert the attention of people from the power and water woes. Similarly, Arvind Kejriwal’s party has been enacting a drama by holding mohalla sabhas ,” said Delhi Congress chief Arvinder Singh.
