District Education Officer, Gurgaon, directed the school to take back the students and restore common facilities

Over a dozen parents staged a demonstration outside the Shalom Hills International School at Sushant Lok Phase-I here on Thursday against the school authorities’ decision to strike off the names of their wards over what they claimed was non-payment of “illegal” charges under various heads.

Demanding that the school authorities revoke the expulsion of the students, Ram Phal Sheoran, one of the parents, said that the school authorities had sent email to over 40 parents earlier this week informing them that the names of their wards were struck off and five parents were even sent emails asking them to collect the Transfer Certificates (TC) of their wards.

“Even after repeated reminders/circulars followed by regular interactions, you have refused to pay the fee and also not cleared your outstanding dues. We regret to inform you that due to non payment of fee, you are requested not to send your child to school from tomorrow i.e. 03-05-2016,” read the email from Atul Bhatt, principal, Shalom Hills International School, to one of the parents. The email also contains the TC number and the parent has been told to collect it from the school.

The parents carried placards seeking good sense to prevail upon the school authorities and demanding that expulsion be revoked.

When contacted, School Administrator Ajay Pandey denied all allegations of expulsion and harassment. “We have not expelled any student. But it is not legal on part of their parents to not pay their dues. Those students, who are said to have been expelled, are still coming to school. They are being treated like other students,” said Mr. Pandey.

Later, the District Education Officer, Gurgaon, Prem Lata directed the school to take back the students and restore common facilities.

The matter is being looked into by the Fee and Fund Regulatory Committee and a court case has been filed by a few parents
