A committee to look into issues concerning unauthorised colonies has been set up by the Delhi Assembly after several MLAs complained about the slow pace of development works in these areas.

Set up on June 30, the committee has nine Aam Aadmi Party MLAs as its members. Kirari MLA Rituraj Govind is its chairperson.

‘Projects not funded’

At a special session of the House on Monday, Speaker Ram Niwas Goel told MLAs who had complaints about projects in unauthorised colonies not being funded or taking too long that the new committee would take up the issues.

Earlier, Matiala MLA Gulab Singh said that work of constructing roads in unauthorised colonies had come to a standstill, despite the government allocating funds for the same. Public Works Department Minister Satyendar Jain said that the AAP government had proposed a ₹3,300 budget for development works in unauthorised colonies.
