Panel for transgender community

A seven-member committee dealing with issues affecting the transgender community will be formed, said Delhi Social Welfare Minister Rajendra Pal Gautam on Friday.

During a meeting called to review issues of welfare and inclusion of the transgender community, Mr. Gautam told department officials and experts had gathered to form a seven-member committee, a government statement read. The committee would be tasked with looking into healthcare, education, legal and other other issues affecting transgenders in the city. The Minister also asked the stakeholders to come up with a plan to map the population of the transgender community in order to target government policies and services to address their needs.
