Overnight rain brings down mercury

It was a cool Monday in the Capital following overnight rain as the maximum temperature settled four notches below normal.

The Safdarjung observatory, which provides the official reading for the city, recorded 11.2-mm rainfall, while the areas under Lodhi Road, Palam, Ridge and Ayanagar weather stations reported 10.6-mm, 20.6-mm, 9-mm and 8.6-mm rainfall, respectively.

The maximum on Monday settled four notches below the season’s average at 29.3 degrees Celsius, while the minimum was recorded a notch above the normal at 19.9 degrees Celsius.

Humidity in air oscillated between 57 and 91 per cent.

Cloudy skies

“The skies will be partly cloudy on Tuesday. There will be mist in the morning. The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to hover at 31 degrees Celsius and 17 degrees Celsius, respectively,” the India Meteorological Department said. —PTI
