On the first day of a drive launched by the Delhi Transport Corporation to get a feedback about the ground situation of its buses' operation in the city, over 1,500 buses were checked and appropriate action initiated against offenders.
On the first day of the drive on Tuesday, 1,553 buses were checked and 111 drivers or conductors were found without uniform, 36 drivers were booked for improper parking and a couple of cases of overtaking and non-stoppage of buses at bus stand were also noted, said a DTC spokesperson.
As many as 141 cases of poorly maintained buses and one case of bus driven with an open gate were also noted, he added.Initiated with the aim to check irregularities in the operation and maintenance of buses and crew, the drive will see officials and supervisory staff in the field for two hours in the morning and two hours in the evening. The DTC hopes to provide “reliable, punctual and commuter friendly” service for commuters through the feedback obtained from the drive, he said.
