The Delhi Police have obtained an open warrant against Sedaghat Zadeh Masoud, the suspected head of a module active in Thailand who was intercepted in Malaysia after the explosions in Bangkok last month. The accused was in contact with the person who had allegedly attached the bomb to the Israeli Embassy car in the Capital.

Stating that there was a link between the modules that triggered explosions in Delhi on February 13 and then in Bangkok a day later, Delhi Police Commissioner B.K. Gupta on Friday said technical and field investigations revealed that accused Houshang Afshar Irani, who had come here twice before the incident, was in touch with Masoud.

Masoud was intercepted in Malaysia after the arrest of his two accomplices in Bangkok. Having obtained the open warrant against him on Friday, the police may soon contact the Thailand authorities to seek cooperation for his custodial interrogation in the case.

The police on Wednesday obtained open warrants against Irani and two other suspects, Seyed Ali Mahdiansadr and Mohammad Reza Abolghasemi, all residents of Iran.

Investigations so far revealed that Irani had come to the city twice before the assassination attempt on the Israeli diplomat. After his first visit, the two other Iranian suspects came purportedly for carrying out a reconnaissance of the Israeli Embassy and the surrounding areas. The duo then left the city, whereas Irani came for the second time about a fortnight before the terror attack. The accused stayed in Paharganj and Karol Bagh hotels, which have been identified by the police. The motorcycle used in the commission of crime had been borrowed from a resident of Karol Bagh.

After detonating the improvised explosive device, accused Irani boarded a flight to Malaysia the same day. While he managed to escape, his suspected accomplice Masoud was held in Kuala Lumpur on February 15.
