An 80-year-old man died in a fire that broke out in south-east Delhi’s Sunlight Colony on Tuesday afternoon.

The incident happened around 1 p.m. on the first floor of a decoration company’s godown at Jeewan Nagar. The fire spread to the entire three-storey building.

Probe on

According to a Delhi Fire Service official, 25 fire tenders were rushed to the spot to douse the fire, which came under control at 7 p.m. The police said the cause of fire couldn’t be ascertained as several teams were still conducting investigations.

“The fire department will conduct its own enquiry, as will the forensics department and the electricity distribution company. The cause of fire will be established only after that,” said Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (South-East) Rajeev Ranjan Singh.

The deceased has been identified as Ratan Singh. .
