To express solidarity with victims of violence, people from all walks of life will come together on February 14 to launch the “One Billion Rising India Campaign.”

Women organisations, elected representatives, legal luminaries, leading social movements, actors, artists, NGOs, academic institutions and individuals will get together at the day-long campaign to raise awareness on the issue of violence against women and children.

They will express their support through song, dance, plays, rallies and sharing of experiences, said the Centre for Advocacy and Research, which is actively involved with the campaign.

In Delhi, the highlight will be a cultural event with performances by more than 100 people, a play on violence against women (VAW) by Asmita Theatre, followed by songs by Vidya Shah, songs by community women and commitments by eminent activists. The event will also be addressed by activists’ like Kamla Bhasin and others. — PTI
