Last spotted on Thursday evening when he left for dinner with a friend: police
The teenaged son of Rakhi, the domestic help who was allegedly tortured to death at the official residence of BSP MP Dhananjay Singh a few days ago, has gone missing under mysterious circumstances.
The post-mortem on the body of Rakhi was carried out by a panel of three doctors at Lady Hardinge Medical College on Friday evening.
The police then attempted to contact her son Shahzan to hand over the body to him, but his mobile phone was found switched off.
Shahzan, the only surviving member of the family, had come to the city earlier this week. He was last spotted on Thursday evening when he left stating that he was going to have dinner with a friend. He remained untraced till late on Friday evening.
Efforts are on to know his whereabouts.
The police sources add that among the many pretexts on which Jagriti allegedly used to assault 38-year-old Rakhi was accusing her domestic help of having an illicit relationship with the MP.
The purported disclosures were made by Meena before a magistrate who recorded her statement at the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital where she is undergoing treatment for the injuries.
The accused couple are presently in police custody in connection with the murder of Rakhi and attempted murder of two others – Meena and a juvenile domestic help.
Jagriti, a senior resident dentist at the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital who got married to Mr. Singh in 2009, has told the police that she had anger issues and was seeking psychological help. It has also been corroborated from the divorce application moved by the MP last year and the same issue was, in fact, one of the grounds for seeking a divorce.
It is also learnt that coming to know about Rakhi’s death from his wife over phone, Mr. Singh -- who was then in Jaunpur -- feared for the safety of the couple’s son Vishrut Arjun Singh.
Delhi Police sources, however, contended that Jagriti was employed by the RML Hospital, a premier health institution of the country on October 23, and it was unlikely that the hospital would employ anyone who did not fulfil all the parameters or criteria of medical fitness, mental health included.
It is learnt that on Thursday, Jagriti made a request to the authorities to meet her minor son, who is presently in the care of Mr. Singh’s staff members.
Frequent fights between the couple were also a result of Jagriti’s objection to Mr. Singh’s alleged links with criminals based in U.P. while the latter was not comfortable with her political ambitions. Jagriti had contested the 2012 Assembly Elections in U.P.
