DMRC signs pact with the National Book Trust

October 23, 2013 11:05 am | Updated 11:05 am IST - NEW DELHI:

Delhi Metro commuters will soon be able to pick up discounted books at the stations. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Tuesday with the National Book Trust (NBT).

As a pilot project, NBT Metro Book Shops will be opened at Kashmere Gate and Central Secretariat stations next month. The shops will offer a discount of 15 per cent to all commuters on display of the DMRC smart card.

With a view to cultivating reading habit among metro commuters and employees, the DMRC and NBT will share each other’s premises and carry out various promotional activities like joint advertising, discounted sale of books, establishment of NBT bookshops in selected metro stations and promotional sale of metro smart cards during book fairs and exhibitions.

While the DMRC will arrange for distribution of printed material and handouts of various NBT events through its selected ticket counters, the NBT will display important publications in English, Hindi, Urdu and other prominent Indian languages at the NBT Metro Book Shop.
