Government to send text messages

In order to get more people to attend its events, the Delhi government on Wednesday launched a text message service to send alerts about arts and culture programmes organised or supported by it.

Announcing the service, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, who also holds the Arts and Culture portfolio, said that while the bigger events organised by the department and the language academies are well attended, many events are not.

“At some of the events, there were empty seats. People would tell us that they did not come to know about the event in time. Now, those interested in the arts can sign up to get alerts,” he said.

Give a missed call

Those interested in the service can give a missed call on 9323300300 to sign up for the alerts about the next concert or talk or exhibition being organised by the government or supported by it.

Mr. Sisodia said that on average around 15 to 20 arts and culture events are held in the “peak season” and 10 to 15 in the lean season. Apart from the arts and culture programmes, the service will also send information on the government’s fellowships and scholarships for arts and culture.
