Notices to Sisodia, Rai for contempt

While Arvind Kejriwal filed a personal bond after a week’s stay in Tihar Jail, a Delhi court on Tuesday issued notices to his party colleagues Manish Sisodia and Gopal Rai on a contempt plea against them for their statement terming the court’s May 21 order as biased.

On May 21, Mr. Kejriwal, accused of defaming BJP leader Nitin Gadkari, was sent to judicial custody by Metropolitan Magistrate Gomati Manocha after he remained adamant that he be released on an undertaking and the court refused to oblige citing legal provisions.

The matter is now fixed for July 11.
