The Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) has entered the Limca book of records by putting 200 U-shaped girders in a month on the 30-km metro line.

Uttar Pradesh principal secretary (industries) and chairman of the Noida Authority, Rama Raman, said DMRC engineers working on the Noida-Greater Noida corridor erected 200 U-shaped girders in May 2016, making it the most in a month on a single line project.

Ahead of deadline

The speed of the work will allow the metro link to become operational before deadline, Mr Raman said.

“The Noida-Greater Noida metro link and City Center to Sector 62 trial run to take place this year, however commercial run of both the lines will start in 2018. Deadline is April 2018, but we are working ahead of the deadline and expecting to start operations before time,” Mr Raman said. The official said that Noida-Kalindi Kunj line is likely to start in July 2017.

The NMRC has also planned to rope in a bank to provide the ‘one-city-one-card’ facility to metro passengers.
