The civil structure of the Noida City Centre metro station has been propped up with emergency beams, for what the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation terms “platform repair work”. Commuters using the line have noticed that support beams came up over the weekend and a part of the platform has been cordoned off since. Trains have also been running slower than normal on the line, said a commuter.
“There was a problem with the platform flooring and it is being checked for leakage,” said a DMRC spokesperson, adding that the maintenance work will not last for more than a couple of days. “It is routine maintenance work. There are no technical problems with the line.”
A commuter noted that only one of the two tracks is operational at the station. “The train enters and leaves through the same track now,” she said. “The train also stops further down the platform as a part of it has been cordoned off. There is also a lot of confusion among passengers on where the women’s compartment will stop on the platform.”
The regular commuter added that due to the change in the manner of operations of trains, the services were also getting delayed.
In January, minor cracks had developed on a column on the elevated section of the Violet Line between Lajpat Nagar and Moolchand stations. In July last year, defects in the civil structure of the Airport Express Line forced the authorities to shut down the line for a considerable period of time. Operations were resumed early this year.
