The Delhi Urban Arts Commission on Tuesday approved the Public Works Department proposal for construction of an underpass for traffic on Benito Juarez Marg. This will enable a right turn towards Ring Road and also towards San Martin Marg on the other side of Ring Road.

The proposal was put forward to decongest RTR Marg and Dhaula Kuan and to fully utilise BJ Marg for traffic coming from the airport and NH-8. So far a right turn was not provided to go towards Moti Bagh and New Delhi.

The proposal will also benefit pedestrians as it involves construction of a 590-metre-long skywalk connecting the upcoming metro station and foot over-bridge on Ring Road to various points on BJ Marg. This is slated to make a difference in the smooth connectivity between different colleges of South Campus. The entire project is expected to cost about Rs.110 crore.
