Parents protest outside DPS Mathura Road over fee hike

May 06, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 06:22 am IST - NEW DELHI:

Scores of parents staged a silent protest outside Delhi Public School (DPS) Mathura Road against its move to not rollback the fee hike despite an order by the Delhi government.

The parents gathered outside the school building early on Thursday holding placards that urged the school to rollback the fee hike.

However, school authorities maintained that only private schools built on land allotted by the DDA/other government agencies on concessional rates needed prior permission from the government before increasing the fees and that the DPS Mathura Road has a different land deed.

The Delhi government had last month ordered DPS Mathura Road and DPS Rohini to rollback the fee hike and refund the increased fee collected by the schools in the academic session 2016-17.
