The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has told the National Green Tribunal (NGT) that rainwater harvesting systems cannot be installed at nine stations due to paucity of land.

In its reply to the NGT, the DMRC said in its affidavit, “There are nine metro stations wherein the system cannot be installed on account of non-availability of land... an area measuring 36 square metres is required for installation of the rainwater harvesting system.”

These stations are Noida Sectors 18 and 16, Jhandewalan, Karol Bagh, Preet Vihar, Nirman Vihar, Laxmi Nagar, Ashok Park Main and Kailash Colony.

A plea had sought directions to the DMRC to install rainwater harvesting systems at all existing and proposed stations.
