Nine live cartridges were recovered on Tuesday from near a hotel in a central Delhi locality frequented by foreign tourists on a day the capital observed the third anniversary of serial blasts.
The recovery of the cartridges came six days after the bomb blast outside the Delhi High Court which has claimed 13 lives so far and injured over 70 people.
The cartridges packed in a paper were recovered from near a dustbin outside a hotel in Paharganj area.
A senior police official said they were alerted by a local who is being quizzed about how he found it.
No one has been detained in connection with the recovery.
The official said the cartridges might have been disposed off by someone who was panicked by the extra security measures taken in the city after last Wednesday’s blasts.
“We are investigating the matter. It could be an Indian national who could have disposed off the cartridges. We also do not rule out the possibility of any foreign tourist doing so also,” the official said.
