Winter seems to have officially come to the city with the temperature, which has been dropping consistently all week, coming to rest at a minimum of 11.7 degrees Celsius on Thursday morning, two degrees lower than what is normal for this time of the year. On Wednesday night, the temperature had fallen even lower to 10.9 degrees Celsius.
“This whole week, the temperature was oscillating between 27 and 11 degrees Celsius. This is likely to go even further down by next week,” said the Indian Meteorological Department duty officer.
Meanwhile, most citizens in the city seemed to have realised that it was now time to bring out their warm clothes. “I was wearing summer clothes till Wednesday, but the evening suddenly became so cold that I decided not to step out of my house without a sweater or a shawl,” said Nisha, an office-goer in Connaught Place.
Meanwhile, humidity levels continued to remain strong, while there was very little wind. “The humidity levels were oscillating between a maximum of 82 per cent and a minimum of 26 per cent,” added the duty officer.
The maximum temperature was recorded at 27.6 degrees Celsius and the sky was mainly clear. Similar weather conditions have been forecast for Friday. The sky is expected to be mostly clear, but there might also be some shallow mist or fog.
