A Nigerian national has been arrested for allegedly stalking and harassing a 33-year-old Estonian woman living in Defence Colony here. It is alleged that the accused had sent obscene text messages as well as pornographic material to the victim besides harassing her by making frequent calls.

According to the police, the arrested person, Richard Nzebe, was living in the country even after his visa had expired and had frequently changed his locations since a case was registered against him. He was arrested on Tuesday in an operation in which a sub-inspector posed as a courier delivery man.

On February 2, the victim — who lives in a rented accommodation — told the police that she had met Richard at a South Delhi mall three months ago. The two had befriended each other and exchanged their contact details.

“However, soon after, he started sending vulgar messages through various apps and SMS and would even call her despite being told clearly that the woman was not interested in a conversation with him. As he continued harassing her unrelentingly, we have booked him under a case of molestation,” said Defence Colony SHO Kuldeep Singh.

The accused has been sent to judicial custody by a court.
