NGT wants count of vehicles entering Delhi from all points

The National Green Tribunal on Tuesday sought data on the number of vehicles entering Delhi from all entry points. Delhi Police counsel D. Rajeshwar Rao informed the Tribunal that there are 127 entry points to the city. The Tribunal then sought to know the total number of vehicles entering from all these points.

Earlier, the Delhi Police had informed the Tribunal that 4,672 goods vehicles entered Delhi via Singhu border and 3,798 (81.29 per cent) of these vehicles were destined for Delhi, while 874 (18.7 per cent) went to other areas like Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh.

At Rajokri border, 5,036 goods vehicles entered Delhi of which 3,243 (64.39 per cent) vehicles were destined for Delhi and 1,793 (35.60 per cent) were destined for other areas like Punjab and Himachal Pradesh.

The Delhi Police had submitted before the Tribunal a list of alternative routes for non-destined traffic emerging from various States.
