Slaps fine of ₹50,000 on delayed reply

The NGT has slapped a fine of ₹50,000 the Centre over delay in filing a reply on a plea alleging construction activity on the Yamuna riverfront in Vrindavan.

“The Ministry of Water Resources claims to have filed a reply on March 15 without serving a copy on the counsel for the applicant, who was permitted to file rejoinder within two weeks of receiving a copy of the reply. This is non-compliance of the February 22 order...the Ministry has to deposit a cost of ₹50,000 within one week...,” an NGT Bench said
