New substation for more power in Central Delhi

: The inauguration of a 33/11 KV power grid substation on Deen Dayal Upadhayay Marg here on Friday is expected to improve electricity supply to several areas in Central Delhi. The state-of-the-art substation of BSES Yamuna Power Limited (BYPL) has been constructed at a cost of Rs.20 crore. Besides benefiting DDU Marg and parts of Daryaganj, the grid will benefit the consumers at Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, Mahawat Khan area and high tension (HT) consumers of Kotla and Mata Sundari Road.

According to BYPL sources, the substation will also benefit G.B. Pant Hospital, Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan Hospital and Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Medical College. The Central Public Works Department has provided land for the substation.

BYPL chief executive officer P.R. Kumar said the grid station would have an initial capacity of 50 MVA, which could be subsequently augmented to 75 MVA.
