The sixth route of the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority-run city bus service — Gurugaman — was launched on Tuesday. The buses on this route would ply from Badshahpur village to HUDA City Centre offering a cheaper public transport facility to the commuters.
The service on the route was launched by Deputy Commissioner Amit Khatri, who took a ride on the inaugural bus from Badshahpur village to Vatika Chowk on Sohna Road.
Frequency of 15 mins
Starting from Badshahpur village, the buses on the route, labelled as 111, will reach HUDA City Centre passing through Vatika Chowk, South City-II, Park Hospital, Good Earth City Centre, Mayfield Garden, Samaspur T-point, Ambedkar Chowk, Ardee City, Kanhai village, Ramada Hotel and Fortis Hospital.
Running at a frequency of 15 minutes, the six buses on this route will be available at Badshahpur village from 7.15 a.m. to 10.15 p.m. Similarly, the buses will be available from 6.30 a.m. to 9.30 p.m. at HUDA City Centre. The fare for the route has been fixed at ₹10, but the service will be free of cost for children up to the age of 12 years.
GMDA joint Chief Executive Officer Ashok Bansal said that before the start of the bus service on this route, no direct transport was available for the commuters from Badshahpur to HUDA City Centre.
The commuters had to reach Subhash Chowk on Sohna Road from Badshahpur village in a shared autorickshaw and then hire another autorickshaw to the metro station ending up paying ₹20, said Mr. Bansal.
Mr. Khatri said the increase in the routes of the city bus service in a phased manner would benefit the commuters and made an appeal to the residents to avail the facility.
Already, 75 buses are plying on five different routes under the city bus service. The existing routes are HUDA City Centre-Basai village (route no. 212), Ghata village-Sector 2 Krishna Chowk (route no. 112), Dundahera-Wazirpur (route no. 215), Tau Devi Lal Botanical Garden-HUDA City Centre-Daulatabad (route no. 116) and Ambience Mall-Rajiv Chowk-Gurugram bus stand (route no. 132).
