A senior official of the Netherlands embassy became the fresh victim of snatchers on Friday when two motorcycle-borne men snatched her gold chain on gunpoint in east Delhi.

Ila Singh, Senior Programme Officer (Press and Culture) in the embassy was walking towards a bus stop to drop her daughter to her school bus in Mayur Vihar Phase-I when the incident took place at around 7:10 am, police said.

“Two men on a motorcycle snatched Ms. Singh’s gold chain and sped away. They were wearing helmets. Even though it was near an auto stand, no body dared to chase them since they showed the gun while leaving,” a senior police official said.

Though Ms. Singh could not note down the registration number of the vehicle, an elderly man doing his morning walk did note half the number, which has been conveyed to the police, he said.

Investigation in the case is on, police said.
