NDPL staff call off proposed strike

June 23, 2010 08:17 pm | Updated December 17, 2016 05:12 am IST - NEW DELHI:

Employees of the North Delhi Power Limited (NDPL) on Wednesday assured the Delhi High Court that they will sit across the table with their employer to find out a solution to their long-pending demands.

The NDPL is a private power transmission company supplying power in North Delhi.

The employees gave this assurance to Justice M.C. Garg when the latter suggested to them to solve their disputes through talks. The employees’ union through its lawyer informed the Court that it would sit with the employer on July 5 and revert to it after that.

The Court was hearing a petition by the NDPL urging it to restrain the employees from going on their proposed strike from July. The union had on June 16 given a notice to the management for going on strike in protest against non-acceptance of the employees’ demands.

The demands of the employees are payment of arrears; recruitment of dependants of the employees in case of their death during service period on compassionate ground; regularisation of services of those employees who have been transferred to NDPL from the erstwhile Delhi Vidhyut Board and implementation of five days’ week in the company.
