The New Delhi Municipal Council wants residents of the Capital to soak in the culture of the city and experiment with the cuisines of different States during its ongoing centenary celebrations.
The Nomadic Fair and Festival on the roof of Palika Bazar was jointly inaugurated on Monday by NDMC chairman Jalaj Shrivastava and his wife Mita Shrivastava. “Also known as Lutyens’ Delhi, the NDMC is one of the greenest urban hubs in India. Some of the best known landmarks of India are also located in the NDMC zone — Rashtrapathi Bhavan, Parliament House, India Gate, Jantar Mantar and the Supreme Court,” Mr. Shrivastava.
A renovated Connaught Place will be officially opened on December 30. Besides a refurbished Connaught Place, there will be something for all age groups. Nomadic craftsman will display their work and artists and musicians will perform every day till January 5.
A week-long food festival, inaugurated on Monday, offers a variety of cuisines.
The event includes workshops, music, demonstrations, exhibition, food and folk-healing for visitors.
Performances by Ability Unlimited and Chand Nizami on January 2 and 3 respectively are also on the cards.
Vintage cars will be displayed on January 5. A kite festival will follow two days later.
