Najeeb case: order on lie test on Nov 21

November 16, 2017 01:31 am | Updated 01:31 am IST - New Delhi

A Delhi court on Wednesday reserved its order on a CBI plea to conduct polygraph test on certain students of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) in connection with the disappearance of Najeeb Ahmed.

Najeeb, a student of the university, has been missing since October 15, 2016.

Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Samar Vishal reserved the order for November 21 on conclusion of arguments by the CBI and counsel for the students.

‘No provision’

Earlier, the students had opposed a Delhi Police application seeking the court’s permission to conduct a lie detection test on them. They had argued that there was no provision under the Code of Criminal Procedure, whereby the court of a magistrate could direct any person to undergo a lie detector test or direct him or her to record consent or refusal for the same.

The Delhi High Court had on May 16 transferred investigation in the case from the Delhi Police to the CBI.
