For Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s birthday on Wednesday, rebel Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Kapil Mishra “gifted” him a music video that asked him to take responsibility for the alleged ‘scams’ that Mr. Mishra has accused him and Cabinet Minister Satyendra Jain of.

The music video, which is in tune with a Marathi song titled ‘Sonu tula mazyavar bharosa nay ka’ , features Mr. Mishra and other members of the India Against Corruption (IAC) group.

The song starts: “AK [Arvind Kejriwal] tumhe khud pe bharosa nahi kya ?” (AK don’t you believe in yourself?)”, and goes on to ask the CM why he did not attend the recently concluded monsoon session of the Assembly.

Mr. Mishra had submitted complaints to the CBI and the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) against the CM and the Health Minister, but the agencies have not been able to find any evidence to book them in over three months.

The video, which was launched at 3.40pm, has already been viewed over 20 lakh times through various social media sites.

“Facebook analytics shows that this video has reached around three lakh people only through my official page and 2250 have shared it on their profiles. On my Twitter account, I have received over 1500 retweets,” Mr. Mishra said.

Mr. Mishra said that the motive behind releasing the video was to get answers to questions and allegations that he has been raising.

He added that the video will be shared with residents in Bawana, which will go to the by-polls on August 23.

Earlier this month, Mr. Mishra and the IAC launched a ‘pol khol’ campaign in Bawana to discourage voters from voting for AAP.

Mishra has also put up posters in several major intersections across the city to mark the ‘100 days of surgical strike against Kejriwal’s corruption’.

The AAP, meanwhile, dismissed the video as “frivolous and desperate”. “When someone tries to work for the people, many try to dissuade him and put him down. If there was any evidence against the CM or any of our Ministers they would have been behind bars,” said senior AAP leader Ashutosh.

BJP gifts leather shoes

A Delhi BJP member, meanwhile, “gifted” a pair of leather shoes to the CM to protest his “hypocrisy”.

Raghav Mandal, a member of the city BJP’s media team, said: “I sent this gift to Kejriwal as a symbolic protest against his hypocrisy. He uses fine jogging shoes but always wears ordinary sandals in public and official events.”
