The names of 25,034 lucky applicants of the DDA Housing Scheme 2014 who would inch closer to their dream of owning a house in Delhi will be out today.
The DDA will be conducting draw of lots on Tuesday starting 11:30 a.m. The exercise can be viewed live on www.ddadrawlive.in. The applicants had been waiting for DDA to announce the date for the draw after the same had been postponed several times due to technical reasons.
DDA Vice-Chairman Balvinder Kumar had while launching the scheme on September 1 said that he would want the draw to be conducted within a month after the scheme closes. The scheme closed on October 15.
Earlier, the draw was scheduled for November 5. It was then postponed to November 17. However, hours before the draw, the DDA postponed the draw citing technical issues.
It had said the test run was taking 8-9 hours in view of the large number of applications (over 10 lakh) it has received.
The agency was trying to bring down the time being consumed in the entire exercise of draw of lots.
It had attributed the huge amount of time being taken in mock trial to “large number of applications (more than 10 lakh), multiple category of flats (more than 4), multiple preferences for locations (34) and multiple reservations (SC, ST, persons with disabilities, ex-servicemen and war widows).”
The scheme is DDA's biggest ever till date. For 25, 034 flats, the agency have received over 10 lakh applications. Most of the flats are in low income group. Some of the flats in Rohini are said to be on disputed area.
DDA had taken several measures this time to assist the applicants from uploading a video on how to fill the form to giving several opportunities to applicants to make corrections, if any, after the scheme closed.
The submission of the form was also hassle-free with no need for a variety of documents.
