For people entering Delhi, there are no public toilets on the outskirts , all the way from the Badarpur border in the South to Narela in the North.
This has been highlighted by South Delhi MP Ramesh Bidhuri, who has written to Chief Secretary Deepak Mohan Spolia this week to demand that toilet complexes be built in the area.
Mr. Bidhuri said previous governments had not taken the matter seriously and the entire outer fringes of Delhi lacked public conveniences.
The MP suggested that toilet complexes and tea kiosks be built by the corporations, the Public Works Department and the National Highways Authority of India, and that local residents be asked to run them.
Leaders agreeMunicipal leaders agree that rural areas on the outskirts have been neglected in this respect.
North Delhi Municipal Corporation Standing Committee chairperson and Banker ward councillor Mohan Bhardwaj said the Congress government had ignored the needs of villagers.
“Not only are there no toilets on the highways, but also there are none in the villages.
The Sheila Dikshit government did not address our needs. It is pathetic that women have to relieve themselves in the open,” said Mr. Bhardwaj.
Welcome moveHe said the North Corporation welcomed Mr. Bidhuri’s attempt .
