A 42-year-old woman and her 11-year-old daughter were found murdered at their flat in 11th Avenue of Gaur City-2, Greater Noida, on Tuesday. The police said that the key suspect is the deceased woman’s 16-year-old son, who is absconding.

The police said that Anjali Agarwal and her daughter Manikarnika were killed on Monday night.

The matter came to light on Tuesday after Anjali’s husband, Soumya, called her repeatedly but got no response. Mr. Agarwal, a businessman, had gone to Surat, Gujarat, on December 3.

“Mr. Agarwal made several calls to his wife after 10:30 p.m. on Monday but got no response,” said Ajay Kumar Sharma, Station House Officer of Bisrakh police station.

Later, the phone was switched off and on Tuesday night Mr. Agarwal told his cousin Virat to go check if everything was okay.

“When I reached the spot, I found that the house was locked. I then called the police as there was no response from inside,” said Mr. Virat

A police team rushed to the spot and broke open the door. The bodies of the mother and daughter were found lying on the bed. The police found a cricket bat with blood stains near the bodies as well as a pair of scissors. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem.

‘Boy spotted in footage’

“Prima facie, it appears that the son attacked the duo with a bat and then stabbed them with a scissor several times as both bodies have several stab wounds,” said a senior police officer.

“We suspect the murder has been committed by the son, who has been spotted on CCTV footage leaving the house around 11:30 p.m. on Monday with a bag,” said the police. The father has stated that ₹2 lakh have been taken out from their locker.
