A young woman and her six-year-old daughter were murdered and her husband grievously injured by two men in Bindapur here earlier this week over a property dispute. Both the accused were arrested at the spot.

An anonymous caller told the Police Control Room at 11.20 p.m. on Wednesday that he had heard a woman’s screams emanating from the fourth floor of an adjoining building in Nanhe Park. Constables Rajinder and Sushil, who were patrolling near the fish market in the area, rushed to the spot.

The policemen found a readymade garments tailoring shop being run from the flat and pieces of clothes littered around. Suddenly a man with blood-splattered clothes appeared on the scene, in a hurry to rush out. However, he was caught by the policemen.

The constables found a young woman lying in a pool of blood in one of the rooms. The man caught at the spot identified himself as Gurdip and purportedly told the policemen that he and his friend Rehman Ali had attacked a couple and their daughter. The flat was searched and a man and a six-year-old girl were found lying in pools of blood.

Constable Rajender went to the building’s terrace and found Rehman hiding in a corner. Both the accused were arrested. The injured woman, identified as Phalguni, and her daughter were declared brought dead at the hospital. Phalguni’s husband Asit Sahini (31) is under treatment at Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Hospital.

Investigation revealed that Gurdip had sold his Bawana flat to Asit for Rs.2.25 lakh, but was dilly-dallying on giving its possession despite having received the full payment. When Gurdip did not show any inclination to hand over the flat, Asit threatened to report the matter to the police.

At his, Gurdip hatched a conspiracy along with Rehman to eliminate Asit and called him to their Nanhe Park tailoring shop. When Asit reached Nanhe Park along with his wife and daughter, the duo brutally attacked the couple with scissors and strangled the girl, the police said.
