: Escalating his attack against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has written to the Central Information Commissioner (CIC) asking him to make information related to Mr. Modi’s educational qualification public.

In a letter to the CIC, Prof. M. Sridhar Acharyulu, Mr. Kejriwal said that there were rumours about Modi not having any degree.

“The nation wants to know the truth. But you have refused to make the information public. Why have you done this? This is wrong,” he wrote on Wednesday.

Mr. Kejriwal has written that according to some reports, the Prime Minister is preventing the department concerned from releasing details about his educational qualification.

“Why hide Mr. Modi’s education qualifications? I am surprised.

By doing this you are creating suspicion in the minds of public that the Commission is objective,” the Delhi CM said.

In his election affidavit, Modi had claimed that he had completed a distance education course in political science from Delhi University in 1978.

Earlier this month, the University had rejected an RTI plea seeking information about this degree earned by Mr. Modi.
