A 26-year-old model was killed and two of his friends injured when a speeding sedan rammed their car in the early hours of Sunday in north-west Delhi’s Bharat Nagar. The police have arrested Kurukshetra resident Kartik (21).

Abhishek Narula, a resident of south Delhi, worked as model and actor in Mumbai, was here for a couple of day to meet family and friends. According to the police, the victim had gone to meet his friends Randeep and Yogesh in Bharat Nagar.

Waiting at red light

“They went to withdraw money from an ATM around 3 a.m. and were waiting at a red light near Sunder Lal Jain Hospital on the way back when the speeding sedan rammed their car,” said a senior police officer.

Mr. Narula, who was sitting on the passenger seat in the front, went through the windscreen due to the impact, the police said, adding that Mr. Randeep and Mr. Yogesh also sustained severe injuries.

Locals took the trio to a nearby hospital, where Mr. Narula was declared brought dead. Mr. Randeep and Mr. Yogesh are undergoing treatment at Bara Hindu Rao Hospital.

“Mr. Kartik also sustained injuries in the accident. He was nabbed by the locals and arrested after treatment at a nearby hospital,” said a senior police officer, adding that his medical examination was conducted to establish whether he was drunk at the time of the accident. Mr. Kartik allegedly told the police that he is a student at a private college in Sonipat and was driving to Delhi with two of his friends to meet a relative.
